1,500 roles in HR and recruiting are being laid off as part of Meta’s upcoming layoffs: Report
According to persons familiar with the situation, Meta Platforms Inc. has begun implementing the job layoffs that the social network behemoth announced earlier this week, beginning with 1,500 workers in recruiting and human resources. Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg informed staff members during an internal meeting that layoffs and restructuring might continue for “many years,” according to persons who spoke about internal affairs but asked not to be named. The people added that Meta executives were briefed about the first round of cutbacks on Thursday morning. On March 14, Zuckerberg announced that Meta intended to terminate 5,000 unfilled positions and lay off around 10,000 employees; however, not all affected parties have received notice as of yet. For example, April is the month when engineering layoffs are planned.
