LOOKING INWARD FOR TALENT
The increasing adoption of automation and new technologies will change the face of government work. More than 80 different federal occupations are likely to be affected by automation.1 While some jobs will go away, others will increasingly rely on technology to perform routine tasks. As occupations transform, federal employees will need the skills to adapt to new ways of work. Reskilling and upskilling, while still nascent in government, are important strategies that agencies can use to prepare employees for this transition.
